Although Tucson may be a modern metropolis complete with all of the entertainment, variety, and conveniences that come with progress, it still maintains a friendly, almost small town feel. With the beautiful climate and surrounding nature, it is no wonder that Tucson was rated America's 8th healthiest city by Men's Fitness Magazine in 2005. In Addition to being a generally friendly and healthy city, Tucson also can boast of a unique cultural heritage derived from Native American, Spanish, Mexican, and American sources. Even in the early 1990's, the Wall Street Journal described Tucson as “[b]ecoming a mini-Mecca of the arts in a regional renaissance.” [1] The statement is just as true today as it was then.
